    Liver produces bile salts from blood cholesterol.

    These bile salts are released into the intestine to facilitate fat absorption.

    Kaneka Probiotics Cardio in action

    The bile salt hydrolase (BSH) activity from Kaneka Probiotics Cardio in the ileum may deconjugate bile acids.

  • 4.1

    Bile acids

    A possible mechanism for lower cholesterol levels is that cholesterol is being used to generate new bile salts, replacing the deconjugated bile lost in the feces. Also, cholesterol absorption may be reduced due to lower bile salt levels.

  • 4.2

    Colon

    Deconjugated bile acids may be transformed into secondary bile acids that can bind to TGR5 receptors in brown adipose tissue and muscle which may increase energy expenditure through the consumtion of triglycerides. This is a mechanism by which BSH may help support healthy triglyceride blood levels.

  • 4.3

    Excretion

    A proportion of deconjugated bile acids may precipitate and be excreted in the feces.
