2022 NutraIngredients Winners First Place Position in Two Categories
Pasadena, TX (May 6 2022) – Already known as an innovator in the probiotics market category, AB Biotics, a subsidiary of Kaneka Corporation is excited to announce it has won first place in two categories in the 2022 NutraIngredients Awards:
(a) Probiotic Product of Year AB-21â„¢
(b) Ingredient of the Year for Weight Management LipiGoâ„¢
No other company in this year ’s awards was able to achieve victory in two separate categories. The award honors the best and brightest products in both the raw material sector (Ingredients Category) and finished products sector (Products Category) and Kaneka/AB Biotics won in both categories. This was the 8th year of the NutraIngredients Awards competition, and it is judged by a panel of 17 scientists and industry professionals.
AB-21 is a four-strain probiotic formulation comprised of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum strains (KABPâ„¢-022, KABPâ„¢-023 and KABPâ„¢-033) and Pediococcus acidilactici strain (KABPâ„¢-021). The effects of AB-21 were demonstrated in a published study evaluating immune function. The study was a randomized, placebo-controlled, quadruple-blinded clinical trial involving 293 subjects. Key findings of the study showed the impact of gut bacteria upon immunity as well as effects on the Gut Lung Axis.
LipiGo won top place in the finished products category of Weight Management. The product consists of a postbiotic containing specifically-selected polysaccharides from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The active components of LipiGo are the β-glucan and chitin-chitosan fragments found in the postbiotic’s cell wall. The effects of LipiGo were demonstrated in a multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group clinical trial in 60 participants.
